They believe arson.....and she was only likely have gone downstream to Graythorp to the Able Yard anyway,however, the people that have been trying to preserve and renovate the ship as a training unit/ museum still seem keen on doing it....lord knows what that would have cost even before she subsided into the Tees mud years ago.

I personally believe that it was 'game over' as soon as she was flooded - but even before that she was surely on 'borrowed time'. The asbestos issue was always going to be an expensive stumbling block for any refurbishment.

BBC NE News last evening said Middlesbrough Council now agreed that scrapping must be started as a matter of some urgency...hurray.
