It is one of the pre World War2 ships that were LendLeased to the UK, the infamous 4 stackers.
There were I think 50 loaned, and all were named after towns that existed in Britain and US. But I cannot see a pennant no. Being launched, it would have had an American name.
Having said all that, USS Pruitt
