Look what I found when doing my inspection of the lazarette.

Perhaps Sir William can explain to those who have joined recently.

we had a 30 minute hang up one night on a Ballast working. Bucket upside down to support the shovel and two nice pork pies on shovel to warm through. Just then the Brighton paper train blasted past us throwing sparks high into the air (Bullied) this caused a slight blow back. Quick and natural reaction of the driver opening the blower valve to compensate......Bye Bye Pork Pies!!.

That is the original packaging of White Gloss, as supplied by Dom. The back side looked like this:

Well Bulleid learned his trade under Gresley at the GNR/LNER!

He did however have input into the best locos of all time - the A4s!

Sorry but am about to become a bore at the bar!

I used to run down from school to watch a Black five pulling the Slow Carlisle, but we have all had our moments.

What is it with Wagner and Steam? Was Valhalla steam heated?

Tom, your last two pics came through at an unviewable size (or is it just me). Any chance of a small enlargement? (I have had this request in for years, but in a different context. If either could be fulfilled, I would be pleased, though one is becoming less urgent as time passes).

Sorry, FJ -- that's the way I copied them in the first place. Increasing the size just seems to break up the pixels. If I ever figure it out, I'll repost.

That will keep the Southern guys happy. Try looking for "60009 Union of South Africa" on YouTube for an A4.

I think Sir William and I will be reminiscing for a bit.

Another bottle for me please Steward and one for Sir William so we can cry into our drinks while we discuss the decline of the steam locomotive.

Few steam leaks (exhaust sream from valve glands ??). Never be allowed to continue on the Golden Dreamer.
Always been intrigued with British locos not having headlights (to see the road ahead) but rationalised this against vacuum brakes on the basis that no point seeing what you are going to hit as you will hit it anyway!
Putting on train proof hi viz shirt and immediately departing down the yard.

NOPE !!!! looks far too much like my old journeyman.... scary memories Injun room crew is now fully staffed... Me (boss) Squeek (thinks he's boss) Eric ( doesn't know who is boss) with the addition of twin rabbits Numb Nuts and Nibbler who don't give a monkeys who's boss. Normal service resumed as usual and all requests for injun movements responded with the customary response " feck off we're busy down here"

Tmac, you silver tongued old charmer, you have never lost your touch. You do keep things going round though, even if it's only giving everyone flu about every six months, just to give us all something to moan about. I see you have your little crate outside the funnel suite door, with a marker set to "5 pints Blackbush". It shall be done.
