Question Anyone remember?

We were dry-docked in Glasgow and one of the other engineers, being a local-yokel, suggested we go out to Greenock to the Clock Hotel, "Where you will have quite a surprise!". He would say no more so off we went.

The 'surprise' was the 'Engine Room Bar' and what a surprise it was!

The fire-place consisted of a Howden furnace-front with pressure-gauges and other articles, you would get in an engine-room, on the bulkheads, (walls!!), and in various positions around the bar.

A memorable visit!

Doubtless all has gone now as it would be meaningless to the modern generation.

Does anyone else remember The Clock Hotel? Phil

Well, I think I remember the name but not the detail you describe Phil. I was working quite a lot in the area in the early '80s so that's very remiss of me

It's Cloch, fellows, not Clock. Turn on the gutterals at the end.

Cloch Point lighthouse was famous among R/Os for its non-directional radiobeacon, used to calibrate the radio direction-finders of ships departing from the Clyde after construction or major repairs affecting the vessel's superstructure.

Cloth Hotel on Albert Road, Gourock - about 2 minutes from my childhood home. Most of the action was below street level in a bar named Davy Jones Locker

Nice to see your name up on the board Ray, did the retirement home let you play with the computer today or did you tease the ladies by lifting your Kilt.
