I'd take a look tonight -- if only they'd switch off those lights on teesside. Anyway, we are on the flanks of the moor above Eskdale, so the ridge opposite is a pain.
I suffered a proximal fracture of the humerus 7 days ago - so won't be going far. It hurts . . .

Dark skies are hard to find these days.

40m (7 MHz) is still good. I regularly receive WSPR signals from Europe in Australia.

The Sun is very quiet approaching the minimum, but huge holes in the Corona are leading to spectacular auroras of late ….

They're pretty much playing with everything else these days … and getting away with it.

So why not ?

Don't be fooled. Those green b@stards are slowly and surely drawing their plans against us.

Seems to be a lot of chatter about these Over the Horizon HF Radars which are currently splattering across both Amateur and Broadcast Bands on HF. I can hear a few of them and for the WEB SDR site at Utwente it's lifting his receiver off the bench by the look of it.
They have a large bandwidth and presumably a huge amount of power. The Russians appear to be getting the blame for it. This is not the 'Woodpecker' we all knew (and loved ?) back in the day. They certainly don't seem to care where they use it on the spectrum and just transmit where they please, presumably depending on propagation conditions.
Some info about them here:
