I have exhausted;
The Observer's Book of Ships, 1966 Ocean Ships, 1964 and 1986 Ship Recognition, Merchant Ships, 1961 Passenger Ships of the World, 1963 I am exhausted. But will keep looking for a Janes Fighting Ships, circa 1980. So sorry I didn't spend more time looking out the windows instead of answering the Telegraph and watching the Start Air pressure dropping. Last edited by Engine Serang; 2nd February 2021 at 07:04. E-S. On a normal day I have five reference books close to hand and quite a large number of fleet history books, ie Blue funnel, Union Castle, P&O etc, on my bookshelves behind me. I spent quite some time yesterday in the Federal fleet history book convinced one of their ships, sold on, was one of the quiz ships. without success I have to say. I had the advantage of between radio watches I would often go on the bridge with binoculars because I loved ship spotting, occasionally through the porthole. Not so easy in the engine room.

Blueys, P&O etc are obvious but it is useless if a British ship has been sold on with some unpronounceable name under the Panamanian flag. Used it for one of yesterdays clues and fell flat. Have a go E-S. No one cares if you get it wrong and it means more of us joining in.

When i choose a vessel that looks suitable for a puzzle I then look for other images of the same vessel. Then I pick one of those which are under a different company. The site I sometimes use is right under your nose. No need to stick to books.

Oddly enough I almost never use this site to look for puzzle answers. No idea why. Seems stupid when you think about it.
