When do we move alongside in Chittagong? I'm looking forward to a good curry and a stroll down the posh parts of town. It's all very well being a busy port, but we do have some cargo to throw out, sorry, offload.

Hmmm the port scenery seems to be slowing down nicely. Fenders out on the port side cutouts.
2 and 1 each end when we are alongside. get the gangway out soon as you are done and run the shore supply cable when you can. Tmac needs a bit peace and quiet so he can rest before a run ashore later. Oh I can smell the Curries from here! Best get some booze down us first as it never seems to taste right after eating curry.

Yeah! Right!) sport. SSR -- we need a goalie, if you are up to it?? Game set up with the locals- the Chittagongonians. Free beer for all participants (Dom Perignon for the ladies)

TANNOY: all crew to the PAX lounge for a meeting please.
Are you all here? Right then, It is with a very heavy heart that I have to inform you all that Peter, Husband of CED has crossed the bar. I respectfully ask you all to keep our beloved engineering superintendant CED in your thoughts and prayers as she copes with this very sad time in her life. Thank you.

Tragic and so very sad news Sire. The injunroom crew will stand a silent watch in his honour. Any of the crew is welcome to join us on the Tank Top at 8 bells.

Our Ensign respectfully lowered to half staff. Deck lights dimmed. A time for us all to reflect on our mortality and the contribution of our loved ones to our lives. And, Tmac, I will be honoured to join you and your injuneering crew on the tank top at 8 bells to commiserate with CED on her loss.

I have cancelled my going ashore out of respect. I have had Varley wire the local hotel and they will be delivering our curry meals to the ship.
'We will just have a quiet time alongside for a few days and behave like Gentlemen. However I think at "Up spirits time" (splicing the main Brace) we should have a toast to the late Sir Peter. s fine a Scottish gentleman as ever there was.

He suggested we could pick up a cargo of Rutile (1,500 short tons) in Richard's Bay in South Africa, and take it to the Electric Boat Company facility in Groton, Connecticut. As "earnest" he handed me a well stuffed unmarked brown envelope which turned out to contain several thousand U.S. $$ just as a down payment -- the balance on delivery. Although this project, as usual, is utter hush-hush, the gentleman did indicate the Rutile cystaline structure was being considered for switching elements in the boats nuclear/heavy water circulation structure, or alternatively for use in the guidance of torpedoes. It was conveyed that it was all experimental at present. |

Rutile, you have to drag in that elegant and apposite word, chatoyancy. Always rather liked it.
