Can I borrow your platinum zero percent limitless fund credit card Sir William? An old friend in the Yacht Broking business has emailed me details of a nice motor yacht on his books. He thinks she would make a nice tender to Golden Dreamer, and would fit into the forrard hold when the Stanley Cup is finished. The yacht is around 90 ft in length, and is powered by twin Gardner 8L3B's, so is very economical. She has bunker space for over 1,000 gallons (Imperial), but as she won't be doing any long distance voyages if we use her just as a tender, we could convert about 700 gallons of bunkers to storing Gin and Port. A simple plumbing job would ensure constant supplies on tap to all state rooms on board. There is also about 1,000 gallons of storage for fresh water, but this could very easily store beer instead. She also has bridge control, and comes equipped with echo sounder, radar, Decca Navigator, SatNav, SSB,VHF, and plenty of mooring lines and fenders so we have no worries when entering foreign harbours for the first time. Anyway, there are one or two around here with a wealth of experience of handling twin screw motor yachts. Ahem.....
I think she will be ideal for calling on those places where GD is too big to berth in. My friend has researched the shipping and yacht registries, and reckons it would be all right to rename her in keeping with the theme of the parent vessel. He suggests "Gilded Fantasist."

well now let me see. we have a twin screw tender right now. then theres my varnished V8 speed boat. we have 4 inflatable life rafts and a jolly boat plus out FRB with the twin outboards.
In hold No2 we have our Mercedes mini bus, My roller convertible, and the Viagra blue trans am.
Hold no3 Is provisions (iron rations and booze.) No4 is all engineering equipment and materials plus machine shop.
If we had a cradle built we could Cary it diagonally across No4 hatch aft if our drybaulic crane could cope with it. could also be a good float off in the event of a disaster.
we will of course have to consult with Tmac when he returns from his mission ashore. I rather fancy he would re engine it though. we would also have to upgrade our Crane.

Oh, that's a relief! I know I don't use it much but it is nice to know that it is safe and dry. Umm, when you say choppers, do you mean helicopters or motor bikes?

Yes billyboy, I play a couple of musical instruments but haven't done so for awhile.. The bagpipes(Scottish), the bodhran (Irish drum),ukulele (badly) and piano. I can also read music, sort of!

What sort of music were you intending for the band to play and are all crew members expected to participate? It will be interesting to hear about the musical talents of other crew members and which instrument they prefer. I have started to put certain people together with certain instruments so I will be interested to see how close I am. This should be very interesting

Oh, I forgot to mention recorder and tin whistle.

Oh you will get on well with Tmac when he gets back He has a big one, Lambeg drum. I have a drum kit, Jeffers when he is aboard plays Guirar. Cant remember what everyone played now. Think Farmer John played a comb and toilet paper.

Always wanted to play the Pipes but never more so than the present. If I could, I would march up and down outside a house across the way where some little bastard is learning the drums. There is nothing worse than bong bong bong with monotonous irregularity. Even a dodgy bearing or a flat wheel goes thump with some level of regularity.

I worked as "Skipper" on a 90 foot yacht for a while -- a single Gardner 8L3B -- as you say - very economical -- very easy starting -- although tended to leak oil through the inspection plates on the side of the crankcase. If I remember rightly it had a 32 volt generator built in -- had an auxiliary 24 volt alternator/regulator for all the regular DC requirements. We do't need such a craft for small places as the GD has a retractable feature to even ply the Norfolk Broads if we wish. (Now about those broads in Norfolk!!! )

Oh! But I digress -- Whaty kind of flatulist was the name you suggested?? We do have many of those aboard.

I think I have mentioned before, but I play a mean set of spoons, the guitar (with very modest expertise), the comb and TP, the washboard, and a holdover from infant school, --- the triangle.

Being Canadian, I am fine with most music as long as it is played in the key of Eh?

It is worth your life to mess with #1 hold. And the Stanley Cup thing isn't over yet (Stay tuned -- I'm sure SSR will have something to say about that.) Besides we don't only use the facility for hockey -- sometimes we have women's lacross matches there, and women's netball. ---- And you thought hockey was violent??

You know, I really thought that you would play the fiddle, but you are right about the fluffy quilted stuff.

I also forgot to say that I play the lagerphone really well. I had no idea until now that I so was multi talented.

Just as an aside, my baby brother recently had a conversation with a lady who asked him if I was his sister. When he said yes, she said that she used to teach me piano.. Then she told him, 'I don't think she liked me very much'. I didn't, she discovered I was playing by ear and rapped me over the knuckles with a ruler. Doesn't go down well with a 7yr old. Younger brother was very amused by this.
